Terms of Service
Effective date: 6 April 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the VesselIQ platform at vesseliq.app (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you are using VesselIQ on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
VesselIQ is a cloud-based platform for superyacht and commercial vessel systems documentation, equipment management, handover notes, fault logging, and service record management. The Service includes AI-assisted equipment import, General Arrangement (GA) mapping, and real-time vessel systems chat.
3. Account Responsibilities
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You must enable two-factor authentication if offered and not disable it without good cause.
- You must notify us immediately at hello@vesseliq.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must not share accounts or allow multiple individuals to use a single account.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of maritime regulations.
- Upload malicious files, viruses, or content designed to harm the platform or other users.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the source code of the Service.
- Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service without prior written consent.
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or access controls.
- Store classified, state-secret, or ITAR-controlled technical data on the platform.
- Upload or store personally identifiable information about crew beyond what is necessary for handover and service records.
5. Maritime Safety Disclaimer
Important — Safety Critical Systems
VesselIQ is a documentation and information management tool. It is not a certified Safety Management System (SMS), class-approved software, or a substitute for mandatory onboard documentation. Information stored in VesselIQ must not be relied upon as the sole source of truth for safety-critical decisions, navigation, engineering operations, or emergency procedures. All records should be verified against primary sources before use in safety-critical contexts.
6. Your Data
You retain full ownership of all data, documents, and content you upload to VesselIQ. By using the Service, you grant VesselIQ a limited licence to host, store, transmit, and process your data solely to provide the Service. We will not access your vessel data except to provide technical support with your explicit permission, or as required by law.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any data to VesselIQ, including third-party technical documents, manufacturer specifications, and crew information.
7. AI Features
VesselIQ uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude) for equipment import parsing and vessel systems chat. AI outputs are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You must review all AI-generated content before relying on it. VesselIQ accepts no liability for decisions made based on AI-generated output.
8. Availability and Uptime
We aim to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated with reasonable notice. We are not liable for losses arising from downtime, data unavailability, or service interruptions — particularly in operational or voyage-critical contexts. Critical vessel documentation should always be maintained in an offline or onboard backup.
9. Intellectual Property
The VesselIQ platform, its design, code, branding, and features are the intellectual property of VesselIQ and protected by copyright and other applicable laws. You may not reproduce, copy, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without prior written consent.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to VesselIQ without notice if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or use the Service in a way that could harm other users or the platform. Upon termination, you may request an export of your data within 30 days.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VesselIQ shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or damage to vessel systems arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount paid by you to VesselIQ in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to your statutory consumer rights if applicable.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
